deleting twitter

we had 24 thousand followers and 26 thousand tweets and it all felt meaningless in the face of Elon Musk’s tirade. not to mention the fact any tweet we posted was shown to aba 1 person and their dog, I am happy to see it go.

I downloaded our archive and then used the following YouTube tutorial. It is very easy to do. I will say, it only worked for me when I did it through Firefox. Safari and Chrome weren’t having it. Took an hour I think but 26K is a lot to get through.

I’ve privated the empty account and put in the bio inactive. I don’t want to risk deleting it fully in case we are impersonated by some weirdo with too much time on their hands – and I don’t want to have to check that hasn’t happened because I’m not some weirdo with too much time on their hands.

So there you go. It was a terrible user experience. It was useless in the end for work. If you relied on it to find out when new texts were published here on this website, might I suggest using an RSS reader instead
