annoying funding library update

Bit of a weird update for the Successful Funding Application Library, which is exactly what it says on the tin.

We’ve been made aware that there is at least one website that has been scraping libraries like* ours, training AI models on them, and using the data to generate funding applications for paying customers. I don’t think the charity, solidarity, or generosity of all the artists who have uploaded hours of their hard work for FREE should be leeched like that so some man can make money off of other people’s labour. I feel like I have done a bad job protecting people but at the same time, it doesn’t make sense to paywall the library in an attempt to protect it when it should be readily available for anyone who needs it, whenever they need it. It’s just annoying. It’ll be staying on the website but I am writing this to say: given the fact this is now a thing that happens on the internet whether I like it or not, please bear this in mind when uploading new applications to the library. If you want your application taken off the library, knowing it might have already been scraped, please send us an email. And email only please I’ll lose track otherwise – email address is [email protected]

*I can’t definitively say he has used ours but his disclaimers are vague enough, and yet using similar language to the title of ours, that I would put money on it lol

**I cba debating ‘well maybe it’s a good thing that people can press a button and generate an application, funding apps have long been inaccessible to many people’ today, maybe another time. this is just an FYI and a for fucks sake and oh of course i should have known
